Exercise

Exercise not only helps you look and feel better, but it also lowers your chances of developing a range of diseases:

  • Lower risk of heart disease
  • Lower risk of high blood pressure
  • If your blood pressure is already high, you can expect it to drop.
  • Lower risk of diabetes
  • Lower risk of colon cancer
  • Lower risk of early death
  • Lower risk of depression and anxiety
  • Reduce some types of chronic pain

Regular exercise can also:

  • Improve weight control
  • Increase bone strength
  • Increase energy level
  • Increase overall sense of well-being
  • Increase flexibility, balance and mobility

Even simple daily activities such as yard work, moderate to heavy housework, and dancing count as exercise. When done for as little 30 minutes a day exercise has been shown to be beneficial. Doing any kind of activity that gets you moving is better than doing none at all.
