AboutMission statementActivating Resources for Community Health Promotion (ARCH) is a collaborative effort to create mechanisms to bridge primary care with community resources to promote healthy lifestyles. The ARCH teamWe are a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and researchers from Case Western Reserve University who are devoted to promoting healthy behaviors. Sue Flocke, PhD leads the group and is a health services researcher in Family Medicine. Christine Hudak, BSN, MEd, PhD is a research nurse with a focus on information technology use. Scott Frank, MD, MS is a family physician and Director of the Division of Public Health. Ginger Pomiecko, BA is a research assistant and the webmaster for the ARCH site. Lisa Gordon, MA and clinical psychology PhD candidate, serves as a behavioral change expert and practice change facilitator. The current projectThe aim of the current ARCH project is to develop and evaluate a community resource for health promotion of four health behaviors: smoking cessation, diet/nutrition, exercise and weight management. The community resource is web-based and consists of two main features: a database of community programs for health promotion in Cuyahoga County and educational materials for information, motivational tips, decision making and planning change, sources of peer support and tools and calculators to assess behaviors. FundingARCH is one of 17 projects funded as part of the Prescription for Health initiative. The goal of the initiative is to develop easily adopted methods for helping primary care networks to promote healthy behaviors. Prescription for Health is funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in association with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
